The drive
for more efficient buildings has pushed the area of building and
facility management to the fore. However traditional Building
Management Systems (BMS) and facility management approaches have
been fixed location solutions catering for plant and environmental
control. Modern buildings require much more than that. Building
management requires the ability to integrate IP CCTV, Door Access,
Lift Control, Telephony services, lighting and heating systems and
all the plant behind that to give a complete picture of the health
of the building. In addition the ability to monitor all this
through a single wiring system is essential to control installation
costs and provide for expansion as new services are added.
|
The only system that can provide
that level of flexibility and expandability is Twisted Pair
Cat5e/cat6 with it hub and spoke topology. The only transport
mechanism the can flexibly use such a wiring system is TCP/IP. By
IP enabling all the systems in a building and connecting them to an
intelligent IP based BMS it is possible to configure an overarching
control system that can provide the levels of granular control, logging
and monitoring that modern efficient buildings require.
|
But building such a system
requires the integration of a myriad of different standalone
systems and no one supplies an off the shelf solution. We in
Paracas draw on our extensive engineering background to develop
interfaces that allow all the elements connect to the IP network and
we coordinate the development and configuration of the necessary
BMS Graphical Interface to allow all this to the monitored and
maintained from anywhere on the network. This allows the Faculties
Manager to monitor the health of the building from anywhere on
site, and by combining this with our IP networking and security expertise, this ability can be extended to
offsite through secure remote connections.
|
We have experience of installing
such systems in many building from office blocks to hospitals to
manufacturing facilities, and by leveraging the cost savings of
combining the wiring costs with those of regular IT requirements we
have delivered considerable costs savings to our customers.
